'Popular imam promotes anti-Semitism in lectures around globe'

An internationally recognized Islamic scholar has been espousing anti-Semitic statements and conspiracy theories against Israel and the U.S., the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) reported on Monday.

Imam Imran Nazar Hosein, who was born in the Caribbean island of Trinidad and Tobago to descendants of laborers from India, has studied in leading academic institutes around the world, including Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the University of Karachi, the Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies in Karachi, and the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. He has also served as a Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, MEMRI reported.

In recent years, Hosein has travelled to countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa, Indonesia, and Malaysia, to deliver lectures on Islam. MEMRI revealed that in a speech delivered in Malaysia in early 2012, Hosein accused Jews of "controlling the banking sector with the goal of enslaving mankind."

According to MEMRI, Hosein's books and lectures are widely read by his followers in Western countries, including the U.S., the U.K., Australia, and others. His analytical framework revolves around Dajjal — the false prophet.

A MEMRI study of Hosein's lectures revealed that the imam "blames everything that could be explained as the reason for the downfall of the Islamic caliphate as the work of Dajjal, such as that paper currency was introduced by the Zionists in order to control worldwide markets."

"Hosein treats Israel, Zionists, and Jews as a single entity at the heart of a global conspiracy against Islam, along with the U.S. and other Western countries and institutions such as the United Nations," MEMRI said.

MEMRI quoted a June 2010 article written by Hosein, in which he accused Israel of seeking to topple the Turkish regime and to replace the U.S. as the leader of the entire world.

He wrote, "Israel...has been impatiently waiting to provoke the messianic war or wars that she so anxiously wants to launch in order to achieve a number of objectives, some of which are as follows: 1. destroy Pakistan's and Iran's nuclear plants in order to eliminate any possible nuclear threat to Israel; 2. provoke regime change in Turkey through a military coup d' tat in order to get rid of both Turkey's pro-Islamic government as well as the Turkish-Iranian alliance that is blossoming; 3. expand the territory of the imposter so-called Holy State of Israel until it encompasses its (false) biblical frontiers.

"Ultimately of course, Israel wants to replace USA, as USA had previously replaced Britain, as the ruling state in the world, in order that a false Messiah or Antichrist might fraudulently claim from Jerusalem to be the true Messiah," the imam wrote.

He continued, "Israel is not alone in the world. She has many friends and clients who would support her in her coming messianic war or wars. Apart from the European world, which has been waging messianic war on Islam since the beginning of the Crusades, Israel can depend on clients within the world of Islam to provide strategic assistance. The pro-Israeli Egyptian, Saudi, and Pakistani governments and armed forces are almost certainly going to provide covert assistance to Israel…."

In a letter written in late 2011, the imam also accused the Pakistan Armed Forces of being led by "Pakistani Zionists."

"No one needs to inform me that there are many good Muslims in the ranks of the Pakistan Armed Forces," Hosein wrote. "I know of that, and indeed some of them are my students. The fact remains, however, that the Pakistan Armed Forces, led by Pakistani Zionists, have shamelessly and criminally assisted and supported NATO in the unjust military occupation of Afghanistan and the slaughter of innocent Pakistanis as well. If Pakistanis could do so today, they would lynch those traitors."

Just last month, in a speech in Kuala Lampur addressing the "Dajjal's Corruption of Money," Hosein was quoted by MEMRI as telling his followers:

"Dajjal is almost ruling the world now. In order for him to rule the world, he had to first take the Holy Land, bring the Jews back, create Israel — he's done all that already — and make Israel the ruling state in the world, and that's about to happen within the next few months I believe. I expect Israel to launch wars [against] Pakistan, Iran, Syria, Egypt. And when Israel launches these wars, I expect that Israel will trap the United States to bring them down; Israel will bring the United States down to replace the United States [as superpower]. So, I expect, and you all know it already, that Israel will bring down the U.S. dollar; that's what the Zionists are doing."

He continued, "And Israel will probably trap the United States in a military trap. And the United States is facing military defeat. And Israel will have to intervene to save the United States. If you live for another few years, you will probably see it. And Israel takes over from the United States as the ruling state; that's coming… Every regime in the world of Islam which refuses to submit will have to be attacked so that Israel can rule the world…"

According to Hosein's official website, he lived in New York for 10 years, during which he served as the Director of Islamic Studies for the Joint Committee of Muslim Organizations of Greater New York. While living in the U.S., he also led the weekly Friday prayers at the Masjid Dar al-Qur'an in Long Island, New York, and, "delivered the sermon at the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan once a month for ten years continuously," his website said.
