British tabloids aflutter over 'hot' female Israeli soldiers

"Hot Israeli Army Girls" Instagram account features thousands of photos and has around 34,500 followers, The Sun says • Report makes it across pond as New York Post declares, "These Israeli soldiers would turn a drill instructor into a drool sergeant."

British media on Tuesday reported on an Instagram page featuring photos of young Israeli women during their military service in both uniforms and bikinis.

The report exposing the page, titled "Hot Israeli Army Girls," first appeared in The Sun, the most widely distributed tabloid in the U.K. and quickly picked up by other British tabloids.

The page, which features over 2,000 photos of young Israeli women and had around 34,500 followers, saw an uptick in popularity following the report, gaining hundreds of new followers despite the fact that no new pictures have been posted since July 6, 2015.

The Sun described the page as "bizarre," and said it prompted young women to send pictures of themselves.

The Sun explained that Israel's mandatory military service was the reason for "what might seem like an unusually high number of young, beautiful women, who seem to have chosen a career in the military."

The British Daily Mail website followed the Sun with their own story about the page, reporting that "although they have to deal with heavy weaponry and gruelling training, the girls are not afraid to show off their fun, playful side, posting sexy snaps of them sunning themselves in bikinis or posing in their underwear."

The enthusiasm in the British media brought the New York Post's website to the party as well. The Post noted that the number of followers had already passed 35,000. "These Israeli soldiers would turn a drill instructor into a drool sergeant," their article said.
